After an emotional good-bye, Subaru Natsuki finally departs from the tower in the desert. Yet fate sweeps him up like a storm, sending him to a land far, far away where a long-hoped-for reunion awaits him. The joy is only momentary, however, as the girl doesn’t remember Subaru and quickly mistakes him for an enemy due to the miasma coming off him. When she flees, a mad chase ensues and forces Subaru deep into an unfamiliar jungle. There, he stumbles across a man who hides his face but not his arrogance…!

A curious visitor has arrived at Roswaal Manor, bringing with her fantastic tales of heroes and faraway places—and also a spot of trouble. Meanwhile, Rem works very hard around the manor. Waiting for them is a Sage who is quite different from all the stories...not to mention several tests set up centuries earlier to judge the worthiness of visitors seeking the untold knowledge resting within the tower. If they pass, access to the hidden wisdom of the legendary Sage may help them find a way to save Rem and the other victims of the Witch Cult. Fail...and they might not leave alive...

The Witch Cult has finally been driven from the Water Gate City, but the turbulent events have left deep scars on Pristella. Far too many people have even been robbed of their names and memories. In order to save them, Subaru and his friends set off on a dangerous journey to the Pleiades Watchtower. To get there, they will need to cross the Auguria Dunes, home to vicious demon beasts of every stripe and so treacherous a place that even Reinhard was forced to turn back. The only way they have any chance of making it across is to trust the guidance of a spirit bearing the name of a certain witch and a demon beast tamer who once tried to kill everyone in Roswaal Manor. With such unsettling traveling companions and a still-sleeping Rem along for the ride, Subaru will need to stay on his toes to make sure everyone reaches their destination in one piece...
