Обесценивает оригинал на корню, делая и Джона мудака не вынужденного, но просто конченного. Рисовка временами хороша, но сюжет не оправдывает не на секунду. In New York City, a man named Henry Wambach feels something dark rumbling in his gut. The feeling drives him to want to eat more and more. His hunger is insatiable. The more he eats, the more he wants to eat. Stumbling into a restaurant, his hunger becomes so intense that he tries to eat the other patrons. Eventually, though, he collapses, dead. Strangely, Henry Wambach has starved to death, despite the fact that he has eaten copious amounts of food.

At the Geotronik security office, a Mr. Webster receives orders, and then assigns Doctor Fulton to choose a suitable psychic tracker to help him. Initially, Webster asks about young Mercury, who was recently kidnapped from a campsite at Wyke's Valley. Fulton suggests a Corporal Morgan instead. Webster explains that a soviet spy's corpse was found at the ley line site (confirming that John Constantine's experiences the previous night were not entirely hallucinatory).

After having been forced to run from the demon Mnemoth, because he is not a strong enough demon to handle it alone, John Constantine returns to the Midnight Club to beg Papa Midnite for help. He searches through the club's rooms filled with debauchery, down to the basement, where the arena is. Midnite justifies the violence of his arena show by having the contestants be mere zombies, but John is still put out, particularly by the spatter of blood on his face.

John Constantine follows some hooligans as they think they are out for a bit of gay bashing. It turns out to be the demon Nergal, who rearranges them into Ironfist the Avenger. Constantine then goes to Zed's only to find the Resurrection Crusaders trying to bring her in. Then Ironfist the Avenger shows up. Constantine also finds out Ray Monde has Aids.

Early in the morning, the Family Man does 100 sit-ups before he goes out to murder John Constantine.

Meanwhile, John is taking advantage of his friend Chas' cousin Nora's services as a prostitute, feeling that he needed one last hurrah before facing death. By the time they are done, it is already five o'clock, and he quickly gets dressed, paying Norma her £100, and ordering her not to open her door for anyone for the next hour.

Someone, or something, is killing yuppies in London. To escape the saturating news of the political elections of June 1987, John Constantine visits his friend Ray Monde who informs him of the strange yuppie deaths. Constantine goes to investigate only to run afoul of a group of demons who specialize in the soul market. This group of demons are betting on a Conservative Party win that would cause the price of souls in the UK to dramatically increase. Constantine, as ever, manages to get all the demons mad at him and in a desperate attempt to save himself, he goes to Hell to con Blathoxi, Lord of Flatulence, one of the biggest brokers of souls in the financial district of Hell.

John Constantine meets a mysterious woman named Zed, but before things can develop he finds out his niece is missing in Liverpool. Borrowing Chas' car they hightail it from London to Liverpool to rescue his niece from a crazed sicko. This brings Constantine closer to what may be a war brewing between the Resurrection Crusaders and the Damnation Army.

Zed stays with Ray Monde to hideout from the Resurrection Crusaders. John Constantine goes to visit his friend Ritchie Simpson who can hack into computers and use magic to infiltrate the systems of the Tongues of Fire, a splinter group of the Resurrection Crusaders. Constantine is also visited by the ghosts of friends lost.

Despondent on his 35th birthday, a drunken and cruddy Constantine wanders among the morally broken inhabitants of a London slum. Hallucinations and fear assail him.
Back at his apartment he dialogs with what seems to be an imagined version of his younger more stable self, which encourages him to visit his ladyfriend Zed in Glastonbury. There, the pair converse and share an ambiguously presented amorous encounter.

John returns to London; an angry Swamp Thing manifests itself to him from a pack of cigarettes.

As a boy, John Constantine and his sister Cheryl are staying with their Uncle Harry and Aunt Dolly while their father is away on business - at least, that's what John was told. John is curious and enjoys make-believing that he is on adventures as pirates or Indians.
