Islamabad is one of the few capitals of the world which were designed and built in the 1960’s. The Government of Pakistan hired the services of Constantinos A Doxiadis, a Greek planner, to prepare the master plan and give vision of the city of the future. Doxiadis presented his vision of Dynapolis based upon the theory of Ekistics and believed that the city can grow into dynamegapolis accommodating hundreds of thousands of people. At the same time the services of world famous architects were hired to design buildings of National importance. The idea behind such exercise was to lay the foundation of modern architecture rooted in the grand tradition of the past. The architects hired for each specific task interpreted this question in their own way. Since its inception the city has taken shape and demonstrated the strength and weaknesses of the Master Plan. The appropriate architecture relevant to the past and pursued by the International architects was also examined for first time in the book. The book for the first time critically analyzed the problems of urban environment and architecture of Islamabad.

Dengue fever (DF) is the most common mosquito-borne viral disease affecting humans worldwide, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. Dengue has been reported for more than 100 countries, with 2.5–3 billion people living in areas at potential risk of dengue transmission. It is estimated that 50–100 million patients of dengue occur annually of which 250,000 progress to DHF/DSS resulting in 24,000 deaths. This is the first study which documented the real prevalence, mortality and case fatality rate in dengue fever and compared the clinical features of classical dengue fever (CDF), dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) and dengue shock syndrome (DSS) in children and adults. The book will help the policy makers in developing the dengue control strategies as it revealed the change in seasonal trend of the disease occurrence and also the shift of affected people from children to adults. It will also help the physicians in the early diagnosis of dengue fever on the basis of symptoms and haematological parameters. The common people can also get benefit by knowing the temporal distribution, the characteristics symptoms, the major outcomes and the prevention strategies against the disease.

Mango (Magifera indica L.) is an important fruit crop. Mango sudden death syndrome is becoming very serious disease. Ceratocystis manginecans and Lasiodiplodia theobromae are the main causal organisms. During assessment and survey, incidence among assessed season showed that disease incidence was higher in spring season while disease incidence among assessed tehsils showed that Kot Addu was the most affected tehsil followed by Ali pur , Muzzafargarh while least affected was Jatoi. Maximum disease incidence was recorded on Chaunsa, followed by Sindhri,, Anwar Ratol and Malda.. Chaunsa proved to be the most susceptible among 4 observed commercial varieties while Malda showed resistance in field observation. The infected plants showed abundant gum secretion, bark splitting rotting and twig blight.
