Treatment with melatonin and /or DHEA showed therapeutic effects with fluctuated ameliorative percentages in all investigated biochemical parameters ,through markedly accelerated liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy, attenuated DMN- induced liver injury by their ROS scavenging activities, modulated liver injury and liver ?brosis by inhibiting in?ammatory cytokines and oxidative stress, stimulated hepatocyte mitosis, that consequently leads to the survival of rats with a high risk of postoperative liver failure after hepatectomy. These results ascertained scavenging free radicals and antioxidant activities of both drugs in enhancement regenerating liver after partial hepatectomy, DMN –induced cirrhosis and cirrhotic –partially hepatectomized liver.

The pharmacological effects of successive as well as 70% ethanol extracts of N. cataria on some biochemical parameters such as glucose, insulin, carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes; liver steatosis markers; total cholesterol; HDL-C; LDL-C; triglycerides; total lipid; liver function enzymes; ALT, AST, ALP and total protein; antioxidant activity of extracts using NO in STZ diabetic rats compared to the currently used Glicalized drug were studied. In addition, histological investigations were performed. The results obtained revealed, anti-hypoglycemic, antioxidant, anti-lipidemic effects of chloroform, petroleum ether as well as 70% ethanol extracts in comparison with Gliclazide as reference anti- diabetic drug.

The present work aims to study the changes in energetic nucleotides (ATP, ADP and AMP), phosphate potential, adenylate energy charge (AEC), inorganic phosphate (Pi), urea cycle enzymes ornithine aminotransferase (OAT), argininosuucinate synthetase (ASS), argininosuccinate lyase. (ASL) and arginase, liver function enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT), asp artate aminotransferase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase enzyme activity (LDH) and its isoenzymes, alkaline phgosphatase (ALP), total protein, liver weight, body weight, liver weight to body weight ratio, oogram count and worm burden in mice infected with S. mansoni at different durations post infection. Furthermore, the effect of Curcuma Tonga as natural plant extract was tested on these previous parameters to evaluate its role in improving the efficiency of the infected liver.

The present work aims to evaluate two plants derived proteins ; Cajanus cajan(Leguminsae) and Caesallpinia gilliesii (Leguminsae) seeds for their abilities to ameliorate the toxic effects of acetoaminphen after chronic doses. Improvement in all biochemical parameters studied was noticed as the result of treatment of intoxicated rats with Caesallpinia gilliesii and Cajanus cajan proteins either co-administered with or post paracetamol treatment. These results were documented by the amelioration signs in rats hepatic and renal architecture. Thus both plant protein extracts can up- regulate and counteract the inflammatory process, minimize damage of the liver, delay disease progression and reduce its complications.
