О премии

Немецкая криминальная премия (Deutscher Krimi Preis) - самая старая и самая престижная литературная награда для писателей детективного жанра в Германии.

Премия была учреждена в 1985 году криминальным архивом немецкого города Бохума. Это была первая награда для авторов книг, написанных на немецком языке в детективном жанре.
В отличие от премии Фридриха Глаузера, эта награда присуждается жюри, в состав которого входят литературоведы, критики и продавцы книг. Согласно их собственному определению, приз должен быть присужден романам, которые «дают новый толчок жанру с их оригинальным содержанием и литературным мастерством».

Премия вручается в двух номинациях:
- Лучший немецкий роман
- Лучший международный роман.
В каждой номинации определяется три призовых места. Иногда награждается два лауреата на одно место.

С самого начала было принято решение не проводить публичную церемонию награждения победителей. Тем не менее, в 2003 году награда была впервые представлена ​​публично в рамках мюнхенского фестиваля преступности. В 2004 году состоялась публичная церемония по случаю фестиваля «Murder on the Hellweg» (Убийство в Хеллвег) в Унне. В дальнейшем публично премия никогда не вручалась.

Лауреаты объявляются общественности в январе каждого года через средства массовой информации.
