О премии

Премия «Номмо» - литературная награда Нигерии, присуждаемая Африканским обществом умозрительной литературы (The African Speculative Fiction Society), в состав которого входят писатели, редакторы, графики, авторы комиксов и кинематографисты.

Премия появилась в 2017 году. Она названа в честь Номмо - исконного духа предков в религии донов и космогонии.

Награды ежегодно присуждаются африканцам, независимо от их места проживания, за произведения, определяемые как «научная фантастика, фэнтези, истории о магии и традиционных верованиях, альтернативные истории, ужасы и странные вещи, которые могут не вписаться в другие места».

Премия вручается в четырех номинациях:
- лучший роман
- лучшая новелла
- лучший умозрительный рассказ
- лучший графический роман.

Члены Общества номинируют любую опубликованную работу на одну из четырех премий Nommo Awards. Им предоставляется бесплатный доступ ко всем номинированным работам и они голосуют за победителей премии.

Спонсором премии является Том Илубе - британский предприниматель и филантроп в сфере образования. Он занимает первое место в Powerlist 2017, ежегодном списке 100 самых влиятельных людей Великобритании с африканским или афро-карибским наследием.
Премия в номинации "Лучший роман" называется Премией Илубе.

Награда вручается в торжественной обстановке на книжных фестивалях Ака, которые ежегодно проходят в разных городах Нигерии.
