T.J. Newman writes good "disaster movie" books, and this one is no exception. ("Drowning" is still my favorite, but this one is quite good, too.)
There is fast-paced action, high stakes, no time to hesitate, terrible danger, heroic acts, and more. We also get a glimpse into the professional lives of firefighters and nuclear plant workers.
I also enjoyed the parallel drawn between one group of people trying to save basically the whole world and another group of people trying to save one little boy (although, at the end of the book, there is a literal "save one live, you save the whole world" quote, which is too on the nose and reads a bit like "in case you were too dumb to make the connection yourself", taking a bit out of that pleasure).
