Some Schuonians came to see... «Against the Modern World: Traditionalism and the Secret Intellectual History of the Twentieth Century»
Some Schuonians came to see Schuon as an avatar, a Hindu term for a divine incarnation. Stories began to circulate of Schuon’s spiritual rank being recognized by lions and elephants, and of his future rank being acknowledged by the archbishop of Strasbourg when Schuon was a child in Mulhouse. There were even stories of people who treated Schuon disrespectfully in the street being frozen to the spot as a result.
