РецензияIt’s okay. Fairly fast-paced and somewhat engaging. I liked the start and the initial premise. The way a girl who has lost her memory is figuring things out despite being hurt and confused. The twist is not as outrageous as some thrillers try to make their twists, but it was okay and the hints were dropped well.
I didn’t enjoy Drew’s POV at all. It reads the way children’s books where kids investigate stuff read, and it clashed with the darker and more psychological Mary’s POV and took away from the vibes.
All the adults in the book seem to be uncaring and/or grossly incompetent. And I get that “small-town cops being less thorough” may be a thing, but all the adults all the time?
Also, the “we found her body, oh wait, that’s not her” was weird and jarring.
The ending doesn’t seem fitting for this book. The book is plot-driven and fairly short, so there is no character development or even any deep insight into any of the characters. And it’s okay for a book to be this kind of book. But the ending supposes that we’re very attached to the characters and interested in some sort of emotional closure - which I wasn’t.
Overall: a fast easy read that’s not too bad but not really good either.
