Into the Wood

Margaret Sawyer accompanies her husband to a small lake town in central Sweden, where he has contracted to build a road through the mountains to Norway. One day, while driving with her husband's acquaintances, she notices a lonely building, which turns out to be the Kurbus Sanatorium. When Henry is called to Stockholm on business for a few days, Margaret, intrigued by the Kurbus's elegant, old-fashioned façade, decides to stay there instead of at a hotel. When she arrives at the sanatorium, she learns that the place is a kind of reservation for insomniacs, people who have not slept for many years and who have been rejected by normal society as supernaturally gifted (or damned).
