Scott Morse (Ancient Joe, Barefoot Serpent) illustrates Jane Espenson's poem Spot the Vampire, a cross between a New Yorker cartoon and a children's book, in which evil hides in plain sight. And the centerpiece of the issue is the fourteen page Jack story by Spider-man/Wolverine creative team Brett Matthews and Vatche Mavlian — a Victorian vampire mystery.

Under a cover by Cal McDonald and 30 Days of Night artist Ben Templesmith, the second installment of "Tales of the Vampires" digs deeper into the dark side of Joss Whedon's girl empowerment myth.

"Billy the Vampire Slayer, Part Two" was the fifteenth issue of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine comic book series.

It’s the summer after high school graduation, and somehow Faith’s back in Buffy’s life. That’s not all that’s going wrong, though. Vamps are taking Buffy by surprise and it’s nearly cost Giles his life. With her Watcher out of the action, her reflexes out of whack, and a ghost terrorizing Sunnydale, Buffy is in for a hell of a summer vacation.

The recently deceased former Mayor of Sunnydale has got more than a few bones to pick with Buffy Summers. And it looks as if he’ll have to go through several skeletons (as well as a few corpses in various states of decay) before he’s satisfied. Now, on top of dealing with her nightmares about a certain raven-haired, trash-talking former Slayer, she’s got a body-snatching, blood-sucking poltergeist stalking her every moment she’s awake.
