Sherry arrives in the small Texas town of Papper to work as a nurse, and on her very first day, she finds herself not only in the heart of the action but also, before she knows it, being pressured into marriage. Although she and Cody are immediately attracted to each other, they will only find common ground in the final pages of the book.
I'm not sure what amused me more in this book—the twelve-year-old Heather, who knows everything about relationships from romance novels, or the bravado of her father, Cody Baylman, a widower who knows absolutely nothing about any of it. And of course, the funny situations he finds himself in, trying to show his big feelings, with the naivety with which he viewed the consequences.
