The Storm

Through thirteen remarkably different stories, The Storm uses the intimacy of an evocative and volatile landscape to explore the very basics of human survival, all told in a distinct and slender style of prose.

From a son struggling to hold on to normality in the face of an environment in revolt, to an elderly mother fighting relentless conditions in order to confront the child who has abandoned her; from a future where the personifications of tranquillity can be bought and exploited, to a faraway location where it is possible to unite with deceased loved ones . . .

This collection of stories shows us the unusual and often questionable ways in which people deal with extreme crisis and how ordinary human relationships can become distorted in severe conditions.
